Electric vehicle drivers will now have access to real-time data on APCOA charge points using the smartphone platform.
A new network filter has been added to Zapmap – the UK’s most popular EV app – incorporating up-to-the-minute data on charge points operated by APCOA.
The parking company currently manages more than 750 plug-in spots across the UK, ranging in scale from two at King William Car Park, Hull, to 160 at Reading railway station.
‘APCOA’s live data partnership with Zapmap is another positive step in the direction of a more sustainable future, making it easier for EV drivers to plan their journeys and use real time information to inform their decisions,’ said APCOA’s Regional Managing Director for UK and Ireland, and Group ESG Director, Kim Challis.
‘With an ever-increasing network of chargers across the UK, supported by a 24/7 manned customer service centre, APCOA parking and charging solutions are a convenient and reliable choice for customers,’ the continued.
Zapmap’s functionality includes real time information on the availability of individual charge points, EV charging calculators revealing the exact cost of public and home-based ‘refuelling’, and a native payment system linked to all charging providers on the market. Launched in 2014, the app has now been downloaded more than 1.5million times in the UK alone, with 800,000 active users.
In other EV news, our sister title, Environment Journal, recently reported on the Believ’s Local Authority Insight Report. The research concluded that the rollout of EV charging infrastructure was stalling, despite central Government funding – not a single UK local authority has completed its charge point roadmap, and one-in-three have no agreed plan on how to start this.
