Latest sectoral analysis survey aims to better understand the UK’s artificial intelligence sector and how it is growing.
The government is keen to hear from business leaders about their experience of and plans for AI for a new survey. This will inform government policy on AI in the future.
Those undertaking the research want to hear from anyone with a good overview of their business’s products or services and their AI business growth plan. That includes CEOs, CTOs, company directors and senior members of AI or data science teams.
The team has already used publicly available contact details to compile a list of businesses in the UK AT sector, so they can be proactive in seeking responses.
The survey is being conducted by Ipsos in partnership with Perspective Economics. Responses will be gathered both online and by telephone between now and end of May 2026. It will take participants some 15-20 minutes to complete a response.
To help participants prepare, a help sheet includes some of the questions the survey will ask. These include:
- Approximately what proportion of your UK business turnover came from sales of AI products or services in your most recently completed financial year?
- In the last 12 months, approximately how much has your company spent on AI-related research and development, or R&D?
- How many of your full-time equivalent employees are working in AI roles?
Participation is voluntary, and responses will be fully confidential for all individuals and organisations.
The government also assures would-be participants that the survey is not trying to sell anything. See also the related note on use of personal data and privacy notice.
