44 charge points, each capable of delivering 160kw of power, are now online at the Winchester site.
InstaVolt, the UK’s largest rapid EV charging network, is behind the new Superhub, which is located close to the A3 and Junction 9 of the M3.
A wide variety of vehicles can be accommodated at the site. Infrastructure includes extra-long bays for vans and accessible charging spaces. A dog walking area with waste disposal facilities is also present, helping pet owners on long distance journeys.
Air and water machines can be used for vehicle maintenance, and high-tech CCTV is also in operation. Low-level LED lighting adds to the safety provisions at night.
‘The Winchester Superhub isn’t just a charging hub – it’s a flagship site that sets a new standard for ultra-rapid EV charging,’ said Delvin Lane, CEO of InstaVolt.
‘As our largest and most advanced site to date, it delivers industry-leading reliability at an unprecedented scale, ensuring drivers can charge quickly and with confidence,’ she continued.
The Winchester Superhub is integrated with an on-site olar farm and uses cutting edge battery technologies. 870 panels deliver green electricity to the charge points, with the facility also utilising battery storage and renewable grid power for consistent optimum performance.
‘Above all, we are redefining what EV drivers can expect when they charge, seamless, ultra-rapid, and future-proofed charging that makes the switch to electric easier, faster, and more accessible than ever before,’ added Lane.
Earlier this year, Nottinghamshire County Council unveiled a new EV cable charging scheme to overcome obstacles to provision in residential streets without private driveways.
