Interview: Tech to Transform podcast

‘What’s on the horizon in tech reporting?’ The latest episode of the Tech to Transform podcast spoke to Infotec’s Simon Guerrier to find out…

With a general election imminent, the potential impact of content generated by AI and the continuing evolution of digital, how do reporters choose the stories we cover? What role do tech providers play in that?

These are among the questions put to Infotech journalist Simon Guerrier by Rebecca Paddick from public sector tech PR company Mantis in the latest episode of the Tech to Transform podcast.

In the new episode, Simon and Rebecca discuss the ways in which journalism is evolving in response to advancements in big data analytics and visualisation tools. Simon also talks about how the growing importance of privacy and cybersecurity issues could impact the focus and approach of tech journalism in the near future.

Given rising concerns about sustainability, particularly in the tech industry, the pair go on to discuss how journalists can raise awareness and foster dialogue around environmentally friendly practices and innovations.

Other topics covered include the way technology can connect us all, how news should add light not noise, and the science of teddy bears…

Produced by PR company Mantis, the Tech to Transform podcast has been running since March 2021. Previous episodes have included Rob Anderson from Global Data on the future of govtech, GP Sophie Newton on how to share accurate, evidence-based medical information, and Aphrael Spindloe at Student Minds on how tech can support students’ mental health.

Mantis is the public sector technology division of Ruder Finn, specialising in end-to-end communications campaigns that support the growth of tech businesses.
