New look for MyNotts app relaunch

Nottinghamshire County Council improves the free, easy-to-use app that enables local residents to access services by smartphone. 

Launched in January 2020, the MyNotts app has had almost 550,000 views. The most frequently visited council services are highways, waste and recycling, and schools – with residents reporting potholes and faulty streetlights, checking bin collections or seeking removal of bulky waste, or applying for school places. It’s convenient, easy-to-use and free, enabling residents to help themselves.

The app boasts a huge range of information on other council services including adult social care, how to register a birth or death, arranging a wedding at a council venue, libraries, recycling centres and fostering and adoption.

The ‘Recyclopaedia’ feature explains what can and can’t be recycled in household waste. A cost-of-living section offers support and advice to help manage financial pressures. Residents can also find out more about what’s on across the county, with links to popular tourist attractions such as Sherwood Forest Country Park and Visitor Centre, Holme Pierrepont and Rufford Abbey. 

Now the MyNotts app has been revamped. As well as a new look, the upgrade aims to improve accessibility and customer experience. This includes the way people can report highways issues and control how they receive push notifications.  

The app is available to download from the Android and Apple stores, or direct from the Nottinghamshire County Council webpage. 

Cllr Richard Jackson, Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources, says: ‘The MyNotts app has proved to be a huge success since its launch nearly four years ago, with more and more residents continuing to download it to access vital council services in a quick and efficient way. As the app has evolved over time, we have acted on feedback from people who use it to make sure we deliver the improvements they have asked for. 

‘The new-look app looks fantastic, and I would like to thank those in our customer service centre who have been involved in the development and testing of it, helping to make sure the user experience is better and quicker than ever before. 

 ‘Our ultimate aim is to significantly improve the ability to access information and services and provide a better overall customer experience for Nottinghamshire residents who use this method of digital engagement. I would encourage anyone who hasn’t downloaded the app to do so, so they can see for themselves how useful it is.’
