Local authority begins implementation as part of new long-term digital strategy, supported by managed services provider Exponential-e
Havant Borough Council in Hampshire has begun implementation of new systems in the opening phase of a three-year contract with Exponential-e to deliver infrastructure, network and security services. The contract was signed in February, implementation began this month and the new systems will go live in July, before the end of the incumbent contract – ensuring a seamless transition.
London-based Exponential-e specialises in cloud, connectivity, communications and cyber security solutions. It will now migrate the council’s existing IT systems to a Microsoft Azure Cloud infrastructure, providing a fully integrated solution to encompass the network and all end-user services.
This aligns with the council’s longer-term vision to evolve its IT estate to create a secure, reliable, adaptable environment enabling ongoing innovation and supporting effective delivery of public services.
Another key consideration in choosing Exponential-e was data sovereignty. Indeed, one requirement was that data be hosted in the UK. As part of the new implementation, all existing data held on the council’s current estate will be migrated to the new domain. This features a dedicated ‘infrastructure as a service’ (IaaS), with storage and network resources provided over the cloud. The domain also features a dedicated firewall service and managed LAN and Wi-Fi services. What’s more, these will all be wholly owned by the council.
The council’s more than 680 PC and end-user devices are due to be upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Exponential-e will provide a fully managed service desk and professional services function to support this, as well as ongoing management and support of the entire IT estate.
Afshin Attari, Director of Public Sector and Unified Platforms at Exponential-e, says: ‘We are excited to partner with Havant Borough Council to deliver a modern and future-ready IT environment that supports future innovation. As an expert with technical ability and proven public sector expertise, our goal is to ensure the council benefits from enhanced security and improved speed of service delivery to serve residents effectively.’
