Crown Commercial Service is beginning a procurement process to transform organisations and services.
Eight ‘lots’ have been identified, corresponding to individual areas in which new technologies will eventually be needed. Once VAT has been included, the total value of the projects will be £4.2billion.
These include transport-related professional services, consultancies, project management, feasibility studies, training and behaviour change. Lot 2 focuses on transport data services and capabilities, including collection, processing, analysis and dissemination. This covers traffic flow, vehicle movement, timetables and ridership.
Lot 3 is centred on parking, on and off-street, while Lot 4addresses how tech is deployed across physical networks. Lot 5, meanwhile, is about enforcement, security, compliance and emergency service technologies, such as road traffic law enforcement devices (RTLED). Charging infrastructure (Lot 6), system integration (Lot 7A), smart ticketing and integrated travel (Lot 7B), networks management (Lot 7C), systems and equipment for the delivery of wired and wireless communications (Lot 8A), lighting solutions (Lot 8B) and cover detectors including CCTV (Lot 8E) also factor.
Any private sector specialists operating in these areas has until 1st April 2025 to reply to the request for feedback. This is the initial stage guiding CCS on developments and cutting edge solutions to challenges, giving the public sector procurement agency “suggestions… on the proposed structure… service lines or processes detailed” in the early engagement notice.
