Next level e-cargo bikes for last-mile deliveries in London 

London-based E-cargobikes works with Berlin-based OnoMotion on new generation e-cargobike that has agility of a bike with capacity of a van. 

In London, succinctly named delivery company E-cargobikes has already made more than 500,000 drop-offs for retailers such as Co-op, Ocado and Sainsbury’s using zero-emissions e-cargobikes of a traditional design. In fact, the company says these kinds of vehicles are largely the same vehicle used for decades by Dutch families to transport their children.

While these might be of a traditional design, they can deliver the same weight and volume of goods as a 3.5 tonne van, and in the same time in urban environments, while using less than 1% of the energy. But now the company has partnered with OnoMotion to develop an even better, second-generation e-cargobike, launched this week at the London EV Show held at ExCel. 

The new versions include features such as increased payload of 200 kg, carried in a 2 m3 container that can be easily rolled on and off the main tractor unit. This modular loading makes the whole process much simpler and quicker.  

As well as industrial-grade build, the new generation e-cargobike supports longer delivery journeys, greater bulk and a range of service and support activities. 

James FitzGerald, Managing Director and Co-Founder of E-cargobikes, says: ‘Since our inception in 2017 our goal has been to replace the polluting vans on our streets and set a new standard for urban last mile logistics. The Ono’s introduction to the UK, with its groundbreaking swap-body technology, better security, and low energy use aligns perfectly with our vision for sustainable logistics. 

Beres Seelbach, Co-CEO of OnoMotion, adds: ‘We’re looking forward to bringing the Ono to the UK market and supporting the shift towards net-zero delivery networks. London and numerous other cities across the UK have implemented low-emission zones, meaning efficient and emission-free alternatives are a must.’
